Scholarships for InternshipsSince 1999, RWI has, with funding from Sida, offered scholarships for young human rights lawyers from Sweden and developing countries to undertake a six month internship at an international or regional organisation, academic institution or non-governmental organisation working in the field of human rights. By offering the possibility for young human rights lawyers to complement their theoretical knowledge with practical work on human rights issues, opportunities have been given for their overall capacities to be further strengthened, which in turn would enhance their chances of successfully securing a future profession in the field of human rights. The internship has also served as an important, often first, hands-on experience with practical human rights work, which can contribute to facilitating the young human rights lawyers’ possibilities to continue working within the field of human rights. The scholarships awarded to Swedish human rights lawyers have been undertaken at organisations and institutions in developing countries at e.g.;

Due to a change in funding conditions in 2006, RWI does not have the possibility currently to provide scholarships of this nature. However, if opportunities would arise again, information about the availability of these scholarships will be posted on this website. The Raoul Wallenberg Institute has no additional possibilities of offering scholarships for internship positions.
